Where The Method Comes From

This practice was born from experience. After running a recruitment agency and seeing firsthand where the industry falls short and watching AI accelerate the shift toward automated, surface-level hiring, it became clear that the human dimension of recruitment matters more now, not less.

The reality is that hiring decisions are never made on a CV alone. They're made on something harder to define: a sense of connection, a shared way of thinking, the ability to envision someone in a particular team or alongside a particular leader. Something intangible becomes tangible in the moment you meet the right person.

That's exactly what The Human Layer was built to capture. A CV tells you what someone has done. It doesn't tell you how they think under pressure, whether they'll hold confidential information with care, or if they'll follow through when no one's watching. We exist to fill that gap.

The Human Layer Method

Step 1: Learn the environment

The values, ethics, team dynamics, how decisions flow. Makes clear you don't just take a job description, you learn the context.

Step 2: The cognitive model

  • Reasoning — practical problems drawn from the actual work: budgets, scheduling, time zones, logic under pressure.

  • Work Style — self-awareness questions that reveal how someone really operates, not what they think you want to hear.

  • Judgment — real-world scenarios that reveal how they handle pressure, discretion, and difficult calls.

Fewer candidates. Better fits. Placements that last.

Step 3: Get to know the person

A real conversation, not a checklist. Goals, motivations, tough moments. This is where you learn if it'll last.

Step 4: Match from understanding

A small shortlist, with context. Only after both sides are understood
